My main conclusion from this week is that I'm a fan of gutters. I love them. They saved me so much time and make the grids look cleaner and structurally pleasing. I think it was a difficult task for me because I have a tendency towards perfectionism. But no matter how long I tried no grid looked perfect enough, so I left it as it is right now. I started with the least numbers of rows and columns, but their number has significantly increased throughout the work. I can certainly say that these guides will haunt me in my dream tonight. I'm still not certain about the big design idea and the colors, though there definitely will be orange and dark green. The font I chose is Helvetica Neue - yes, I'm playing it safe. And it has a calming effect on me, so I'm comfortable working with it. I have one idea for poster design, but there is a great chance that it won't be accepted as the ideas before it, so I don't hold out hope. But in short my idea is this photograph of the child that would be a center of the poster. I want to photoshop it, to leave only the child and some heads at the bottom, add more color tone, and I like the stroke that I made. I figured I could use it on the website as well and on the spread, but we will see.
